Finding the Time

BUSY ... BUSY ... BUSY !

For the majority of parents, life is usually pretty chaotic.
Juggling work and a family is not easy and
stress levels can be pretty high.

Although it would be nice, it's not always possible to sit down with your
child for 20 minutes or half an hour every day and read.

So, this is where a little bit of imagination and
creativity can make all the difference.

HAVE FUN!

When you're out and about, in the car, at the supermarket,
walking to school, even in the doctor's waiting room ...

~ point out words around you on signs and notices
~ play rhyming games
~ think of words beginning with a particular sound
~ make up songs/rhymes about things you see
~ keep some books in the back of the car
~ clap out chunks of words (syllables)
~ get some magnets for the fridge door

One of my daughter's favourites is to make up silly sentences
using the same sound or blend ...

Cheeky Charlie chose chops, cheesy chips and chocolate cherries

My neat teacher eats meat and beans and reads on the beach

The house mouse from the south shouts loud

The sillier the better!

Fun activities are not only more enjoyable but
more memorable too.
